For ENVI (VINCI Group), NL Protect carried out the blasting and preservation work for the new construction of an LNG storage tank at the Gate Terminal on the Maasvlakte.
The new LNG storage tank is one of the largest industrial storage tanks in Europe and has a diameter of approximately 86 meters, a height of about 40 meters to the concrete outer wall, and a total height of approximately 55 meters to the dome roof. With a storage capacity of 180,000 m³ of LNG, this tank forms an important part of the expansion of the LNG infrastructure at Maasvlakte.
Within this project, NL Protect handled both the work in its own blasting and coating shop and the on-site preservation work. In our workshop, the steel structures were blasted and treated with the prescribed preservation systems. After assembly at the project location, our mobile unit carried out extensive on-site blasting and preservation work, including repairing assembly damage, localized blasting of steel structures, and the application and finishing of preservation systems.
An important part of the project was the pipe racks, which are equipped with a Passive Fire Protection (PFP) coating system. These components were first blasted and preserved in our workshop. Subsequently, the PFP coating was applied, after which the structures were transported to the Maasvlakte. After assembly, our on-site team finished all connections, damage, and mounting points to ensure that the complete coating system fully met the project specifications.
